Problem met when install iManager

Hi,
I installed iManager2.7 on Suse, in the install time, it didn't ask
for directory root and admin user information.the summary page
displays:
Please Review the Following Before Continuing:

Novell iManager 2.7 :
novell-imanager,novell-plugin-base
Tomcat :
novell-base,novell-tomcat5,novell-tomcat5-webapps
JVM :
novell-jdk
Plugins to download :

Existing :
pwdpolicy - 10.7.20090520
SharedContentV1 - 10.7.20090519
novell_imanager_pwdmanagement_plugins - 10.7.20090527
notfconfig - 10.7.20090520
Plugins to copy :

Administrative user and context : none
Tree : none
Tomcat HTTP port : 8080
Tomcat SSL port : 8443

I change the file /var/log/install.properties, modify those two values,
then restart the tomcat. my root dn is : o=ahdc. my admin user is
cn=admin,o=ahdc.
# the directory to be managed
CONFIGIMAN_DIRECTORY=ahdc
# the authorized user
CONFIGIMAN_USER_CONTEXT=admin

But when I login imanager with below information, I get "(Error -626)
The object could not be found. It is possible that the object exists,
but the server could not communicate with the server holding a copy of
the object. "
username: admin
root: ahdc

What's wrong with my env? How to find out the error reason?

Re: Problem met when install iManager

So you're saying that your tree name is identical to your top O level
"ahdc"?

Try specifying the server's IP address as tree name and "admin" or
"admin.ahdc" as user name.

Re: Problem met when install iManager

Hi,
I tried input server's IP address as tree name and "admin" or
"admin.ahdc" as user name, get the error "Unknown meaning for error
number 0x6F; Please call a Novell support provider ".

I think I must misunderstand what the tree name is. How can I know
what the tree name is?

Thanks,
Tianqing.

Is the firewall blocking access to TCP port 524 on the server? Use Yast
to find out:

sudo /sbin/ysat firewall

If iManager is actually on the server itself then a firewall shouldn't
be the issue, but you didn't confirm that the IP you put in was the same
as the iManager box.

Good luck.

Hi,
The iManager I installed is the same box with the server.
Thanks,

Re: Problem met when install iManager

Tianqing,

are you sure that eDirectory is installed on the server with the IP
address that you specfied?

It may be better if you resolve this problem with the person who
installed eDirectory and the tree/server.

Two steps back: iManager is just the tool to manage an eDirectory tree -
it requires an existing eDirectory & tree installation. More info here:

Re: Problem met when install iManager

Hi,

Thanks very much. I found the tree name in the doc
/etc/opt/novell/eDirectory/conf/nds.conf, and now I can login.

Thanks a lot,
Tianqing.

The "Tree" is the top level object in eDirectory. It represents a
complete environment, isolated from all other Trees. Below the Tree, you
will have objects representing the tree's structure, often composed of
things like Organization, Organization Unit. You specified, during the
installation, the Tree name as well as the top level container objects in
the tree.

Well, you've got the wrong forum. Try the "iManager" forum instead. But...

You probably need to specify "admin.ahdc" or something like that, as the
login name. It needs to be fully qualified.
