REST API and roles and filter expressions

According to the documentation it's possible to make a request to the
REST API with the URI /roles?filter={role filter expression}. However,
the role filter expression isn't covered at all in the docs. There are
some notations about filter expressions with workentries and processes
but when trying with the same syntax at the role service it doesnt work.
Some insights?

Greetings,

1) What are the Attributes that can be Filtered: Name | Description

2) What are the Operators: equal | startwith | endwith | notequal

3) The Value must be within single quotes (')

4) There must be spaces between the the Attribute Operator Value

/roles?filter=<Attribute>%20<Operator>%20'Value'

For Example: /roles?filter=Description%20startwith%20'test'

How can I combine the attributes and filter by both description and
name?
