Re: Message: Code(-9010) An exception occurred: java.lang.Illega

It seems I am experiencing the same issue in our Dev environment.

I have verified that the versions of the UserApp that we are running
and the driver match (both 3.6.1 Non-provisioning).
Trace is below:

Strange, it seems like it is erroring on this doc.

But that looks like reasonable XML. Odd. This is built by the driver
shim, too.

Re: Message: Code(-9010) An exception occurred: java.lang.Illega

Interesting...

I tried with a brand new UA driver straight out of the box and get the
same error, so it looks like its our IDM server that is the issue.
This is a newly built server, and the schema has been extended, but
something must be missing.
All the attributes in the doc above are present, so I can't see what
the issue can be.

Greetings,

1) Is eDirectory running on the default ports?

2) Is eDirectory installed into the default location?

3) Is the dib in the default location?

4) When you go look at the settings of the UAD in iManager are you able
to see all of the connection information (User App address)? Is the
URL properly formatted?

This error has pop-up a couple of times, but no-one has ever worked with
Support or reported back what they did to correct it.

You may also want to set the logging for the UAD to 99, enable DirXML
and DirXML drivers in DS Trace and then try to start the UAD again.

Also, you set the Security Equals to be your eDir Admin in the driver,
correct?

Re: Message: Code(-9010) An exception occurred: java.lang.Illega

In answer to your questions, the answer is yes to them all.

Strangely in our live environment, all these settings are the same, and
the UA driver starts no problem.

I've checked the logs in DSTrace, but can see no other information or
problems, other than the XML Doc being stated as invalid as described
above

Re: Message: Code(-9010) An exception occurred: java.lang.Illega

Saw this today at a customer's site. The trace is misleading, I believe
because the actual error happens ten million levels deep and then
returns to a generic catch that no longer describes the real problem.
Anyway, in our case the srvprvUAD.jar file was missing from the
/opt/novell/eDirectory/lib/dirxml/classes directory and putting it back
(this was an IDM 3.6.1a engine with matching version of the UserApp, but
as is normally the case, the UserApp driver install portion had failed;
we had ignored that error for, at the time, legitimate reasons) fixed
the issue the next time that we started the driver config object. It'd
be nice if the NoClassDefFound that is probably nested in there
somewhere could be exposed, but oh well.

Good luck.

Re: Message: Code(-9010) An exception occurred: java.lang.Illega

You sir are amazing...

This fix worked for me to start a 3.6 vintage UA on a idm4.02 server
(yes I know that is a silly thing to do, but it does allow us to finally
decom the idm3.6 server and begin updating to more modern "everything"
at this site.)

I have been struggling to undertand hot to make progress on this until I
stumbled on your post... Then BAM... fixed...

I so would buy you a drink right now...

Thank you

Regards
Darren
