Greetings,
It is not possible at this time, because IDM has only one (1) field
for the "From". You can see this in iManager as well as configupdate.

The engine can override this, with a string named 'from', when using the
Send Email from Template, I am pretty sure. User App cannot?

Re: Send Email

I also think there was the item "from" but this does not exist ...
the item "from" can only be set by the properties of the "default
notification collection" where I see that you can enter a single sender
....

you know help me? is urgent!

Greetings,
If you are using RBPM family of products, we only look at the "From"
field that is controlled in iManager. Since there is only one (1)
field, you can only have one (1) value.

So, the answer to your question is that you can only have one (1)
value per eDirectory Tree.

Since the Engine can do this, but UserApp cannot, instead of sending the
email, flag the object that needs the email sent with some trigger
attribute, and then have a loopback driver watch for that attribute
changing, send the email using the mail system that does what you need,
and then clear teh attribute.

Re: Send Email

I already do as you say .. when a user flags an attribute on the page of
the "User App", the loopback see the change and send the email from the
template ...

the problem is that "email from template" is linked to a sender address
that is the same for all..

I need to send some "email from termplate" from an address different
from the one that is unique to the "default notification collection"...

Let me explain?

Thanks

I may be remembering wrong, but try this and let me know if it works.

<do-send-email-from-template notification-dn="Security\Default
Notification Collection" template-dn="some DN">
<arg-password>
<token-text xml:space="preserve">some password</token-text>
</arg-password>
<arg-string name="from">
<token-text xml:space="preserve">alternate from@wherever.com</token-text>
</arg-string>
<arg-string name="to">
<token-text xml:space="preserve">whomever@wherever.com</token-text>
</arg-string>
</do-send-email-from-template>

Obviously chnage the values to make sense in your case. Mine are
ridiculous values.

I thought I rememebered, just as you could specify To: Reply-To: and so
on, you could set From: with 'from'. Maybe my memory is wrong as it is
not one of the drop down values... Hmmm...

Greetings,
What Geoffrey is trying to outline would be something you "could" do
within IDM Policy based upon certain changes in the Vault.

If I understand your use case, you want emails sent that have a
different "FROM" when:

1) The user changes their password in the User Application

2) The user resets their password via Forgot Password in the User
Application

This currently is not possible from the User Application for two (2)
reasons:

A. There is only only one (1) From Token available. This can be seen in
both configupdate as well as in either the Password or Workflow plugin
areas in iManager

B. The User Application does not sent emails when a password is
changed. Be that via Password Self Service (password change) or Forgot
Password (password reset).

Greetings,
It is not possible in the User Application as I have outlined in the
other replies. If you want to do this based upon change events within
the Vault, then please post to the IDM Engine & Driver forums and you
should receive assistance of how to handle this from Policy in the Engine.

Re: Send Email

Hello,

thanks to all, I eventually solved by inserting the policy "send email"
or rather "send e-mail from template."

In fact, the policy "send email" allows you to insert more "from" than
"send e-mail from template" that allows you to enter a single "from".

by inserting the policy "send email" I put in "select message type =
HTML" .. after that in "specify string" I entered the "from" the "to"
and I built the template under the "message"

this is the solution for people like me who goes to combat this problem
on a Standard version.

Thanks

Rafy

Did you have to add <use-html> tags around your text to get it to really
be HTML? This was needed for a while there.

Regardless, this explains where I was remembering a string named 'from'
working. Good, I am not loosing my mind.
