Specify recipient on approval activity

I have a workflow which is initiated manually by an admin for another
user. When the task comes through the recipient is the Admin. I want the
recipient to be the actual recipient, and I want to avoid teaching my
client the nonsense with teams which significantly reduces usability for
the non mensa segment of the user population.

Is there any way to do this in a mapping activity prior to the approval
activity? Or in the approval activity in a place I cannot find?
Otherwise I need to break this into a separate workflow (which I have
been avoiding)...

thanx
Rob

Re: Specify recipient on approval activity

I do not think so.

Went over this question 2-3 years ago with John and I stopped using it.

As I understand it we do not really have to use recipient, what are you
using it for?

Greetings Rob,
If you want to request something for someone else and have them be
the "recipient" and not utilize a flowdata variable then you must
utilize "Teams" and "Make Team Process Requests". That is what it was
designed for.

*Note, the Resource Request Portlet can not be utilized in this way*

Greetings Rob,
Or, you utilize a two (2) workflow approach.

Workflow #1 the logged in user selects the user(s) they want to receive
the benefit. You then add the "Start Workflow Activity" where you pass
in the selected ID as the Recipient and any necessary data.

**If you want to support multi-select then you will need to create a
loop around the Start Workflow Activity**

Workflow #2 is the one that actually does the work and will have the
correct mapping for recipient.

Re: Specify recipient on approval activity

So, in this case it is possible to change recipients. But how will be an
initiator in the second WF? Will it be an initiator of the first WF or
recipient of the second one?

Re: Specify recipient on approval activity

To answer all the questions:

The recipient appears on the work dashboard, which is why I want to
change it to be correct.
The "teams" approach buries the link to start the workflow down under
several levels of menus and that's not going to be acceptable to my
client who wants things to be simple enough for her users.
OK the two workflow approach it is. The initiator will be whoever we
specify in the start workflow activity.

Thanks
Rob
