UA 4.5 - IE11 shows blank page yet Firefox works

I've got UA 4.5 running correctly where I'm able to authenticate and
access Identity Manager Home and from there access /landing /dash /rra
/IDMProv. All pages and functions are working correctly......BUT only
through Firefox. IE11 just shows blank pages when going to the URL's
for /landing /dash /rra which should show the OSP authentication page.
I do get the OSP authentication page for /IDMProv and am able to
authenticate and perform actions, but the Home button (top right) does
not display so there is still something not right.

Yet on Firefox....life is great! I've just began to work with our
Desktop\Application deployment teams to trouble shoot further on the
issue but just wondering if others experience or resolved a similar
issue.

Our IE version is IE11.0.9600.18015
My Firefox that I'm playing with is even out of date at version 19.xxx

Ideas ?

Re: UA 4.5 - IE11 shows blank page yet Firefox works

Resolution:
The problem was that the server hosting UA 4.5 is in a DNS domain name
that been placed in a AD GPO for IE 'Intranet Sites' and IE's
compatibility mode is turned on for 'Intranet Sites'. Turn
compatibility mode off and IE11 works.

Re: UA 4.5 - IE11 shows blank page yet Firefox works

Following up on IEs inability to see the header on /IDMProv and the
entire page on /landing. The default setting for IE is “Display
intranet sites in Compatibility View”. This causes the IDM page to be
pulled up in Compatibility mode when accessed internally. I found that
I could add a java class to Tomcat that sets X-UA-Compatible to Edge or
IE11 thus causing IE to display the page correctly. Meanwhile all other
intranet pages accessed by IE will still come up in compatibility mode.
( I installed the JDK when I upgraded to IDM 4.5.2)

Create java class to catch and re-write compatibility

1.) Create java file named IEComFilter.java

public class IEComFilter implements Filter
{
public void init(FilterConfig filterConfig) throws ServletException
{
}
public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ServletResponse response,
FilterChain chain) throws IOException, ServletException
{
((HttpServletResponse) response).setHeader("X-UA-Compatible",
"IE=edge");
chain.doFilter(request, response);
}
public void destroy()
{
}
}
2.) Compile java code to class
/opt/netiq/idm/apps/jdk1.8.0_60/bin/javac -cp
..:/opt/netiq/idm/apps/tomcat/lib/servlet-api.jar IEComFilter.java
3.) Zip class to jar
/opt/netiq/idm/apps/jdk1.8.0_60/bin/jar cvf IEComFilter.jar
IEComFilter.class
4.) Copy IEComFilter.jar to /landing/WEB-INF/lib & IDMProv/WEB-INF/lib
5.) chown novlua:novlua IEComFilter.jar
6.) chmod 664 IEComFilter.jar
7.) edit landing/WEB-INF/web.xml & IDMProv/WEB-INF/web.xml. Add before
first filter.
<filter>
<filter-name>IEComFilter</filter-name>
<filter-class>IEComFilter</filter-class>
</filter>
<filter-mapping>
<filter-name>IEComFilter</filter-name>
<url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
</filter-mapping>
8.) restart tomcat

Hi

In our situation, the client has IE 10 and we have a problem with the
header portlet when we redirect to /IDMProv.
Will the above solution work and what do we need to specify? IE=10?

Although we are aware that IE10 is not supported but I suspect that this
header might just be fixable by using the above solution.

Regards,
Rohit

Greetings,
With your IE 10 browser, do you have it set to compatible mode? If
yes then there will be issues and known not to work.

Re: UA 4.5 - IE11 shows blank page yet Firefox works

Hello Steven,
Currently it does not display properly in the normal mode as well in
IE10. Displays fine in Chrome.
In Compatibility mode it does not work, which was expected. I am just
trying to see if the above code might help in some way. I might be wrong
here.

Regards,
Rohit
