Unable to change InternetAddress and/or ShortName in Notes

Hi,

running IDM 4.5.3 and Notes driver 4.0.0.4 against Notes 9 we are not
able to modify either InternetAddress or ShortName in Notes.

According to several sources to change these attributes the admip
process to rename the user should be called, so we added the
xml-attributes to allow adminp and allow adminp rename to the
operation.

If the operation only contains InternetAddress and/or ShortName the
rename does not take place since all parameters send to the adminp
process are empty!

renameNotesUser CN=Mario AdorfAA/O=XYZ
PARAMETERS: LASTNAME=* FIRSTNAME=* MIDDLEINITIAL=* ORGUNIT=*
ALTCOMMONNAME=* ALTORGUNIT=* ALTLANGUAGE=* RENAMEWINDOWSUSER=FALSE

The RL-trace shows that the adminp rename is only using LastName,
FirstName, MiddleInitial, OrgUnit, AltCommonName and AltOrgUnit
parameters for the rename. So If for example we have a LastName
attribute in the operation the rename is working, but still the Notes
Attributes InternetAddress and ShortName are not modified.

Since we can set either attribute during an add operation and the modify
of Surname/LastName are working there should not be any problem
regarding rights or the certifier used.

We have an ongoing SR on this issue, but maybe somebody from the forum
knows the answer to this problem 😉

Kind regards,

Thorsten

Re: Unable to change InternetAddress and/or ShortName in Notes

Hi Thorsten,

we upgraded few weeks ago from 4.0.2 to 4.5.3 and the notes driver works
fine. I just renamed a user and in notes the names.nsf, the user has the
new shortName and internetAddress.

in the rename policy, we set the adminp-rename-user and
allow-adminp-supprt properties and the certification properties:
cert-id, named-cert-pwd and cert-expire-date.

Have you upgrades and did it work before the upgrade or is it a new
installation?

Regards

Zisis

Re: Unable to change InternetAddress and/or ShortName in Notes

Hi Zisis,

its an inherited driver which was not tested before, but anyway the
issue is reproduceable and the XDS is matching whatever the
documentation wants it to be.

So we have all the four xml-attributes in the modify element, but if we
have only InternetAddress and/or ShortName in the modify Notes is
comming back with an error/worning, that the rename in not possible
since no parameter for the adminp-rename-user got a value.

If we are using the same xml-attibutes in a modify having the lastName
and/or firstName in it - and at least one of those is different from the
values in Notes the rename is working as designed and the attributes are
changed as well.

BTW: you can get rid of the two cert* xml-attributes. in this case the
default values are taken from the driver object.

If the modify contains InterneAddress and LastName and both of them are
different the rename succeeds, but only the LastName is changed.

My guess is that the IBM Notes API for the remame-user does not offer
any parameter for either InternerAddress ad/or ShortName. The only API
providing such values is the rename-web-user API - but if we use this
one we are running into other notes errors, maybe because of the fact
that the users are not webusers.

BTW: The Notes server is running version 9 and the client installed on
the Remote Loader is version 8.5.3

Regards,

Thorsten

Thorsten,

Kind of a know problem. When I last looked at it, I traced it down to an
problem only seen when AdminP is enabled.

Casper,

do I get you right: If I do not user the xml-parameters it will work?
Or shall I only not add the enable-adminp="ture" parameter?

Thanks,

Thorsten

Hi Thorsten,

I had some issues with the new driver and Notes9 and tracked some of the
issues down to an issue with how AdminP is added to the XDS.

If you used an old configuration file driver config then you might have
the same problem. I do not know why, but as you have said it is now
officially a bug.

Also some operations which used to work with AdminP and Notes853 would
suddenly not work ..

I no longer track these things (except for my own interest, so I can do
much more than talk about what I digged up in the past).

Re: Unable to change InternetAddress and/or ShortName in Notes

Hi,

just an quick update on this issue.
Meanwhile NetIQ figured out that this is an bug in the current Notes
Driver shim. It will be fixed in the next version!

Thorsten
