Unsupported operation: nrf:resrequest

UA 3.7
When we try to add resources to users it never completes.
If the resource is assigned through a role, the User gets the role but
not the resource. in the RoleResource-trace (see below) it says:
"Unsupported operation: nrf:resrequest"
The User-Group base on the driver is an Organization.

Anybody who have seen this behavior before? Any ideas on how to get it
working?

Greetings,
I have seen this in the past from another customer. That customer
did not create a 370 version of the Role Resource Service Driver. They
were still running with the 361 version of the Roles Service Driver. As
a result it (the driver) does not know/understand resources and
therefore can not handle them (assign/revoke).
From your log, it appears you are in the same situation.

Re: Unsupported operation: nrf:resrequest

Thank you for your reply.
I also thourght that version 3.6.0.4287 was an older one, but it is
infact the one getting instaled when we choose
"RoleResourceService_3_7_0-IDM3_6_0-V1.xml" from Designer 4.0.1 or
iManager.

Greetings,

1) Did the schema get extended on the eDirectory server where the RRSD
is running? Did you run the RBPM_Driver_installer on it?

2) Is the User Application pointing to the same eDirectory server that
the RRSD is running on?

3) Do you see nrfResourceRequest class in the eDirectory server where
the RRSD is running?

4) What information do you see when you go to Version Discovery in
iManager and look at this Role Resource Service Driver?

Re: Unsupported operation: nrf:resrequest

1) The schema looks extended. The nrf classes and attributes are
present. There is only one edir server in this environment.
I do not know if the RBPM-installer has been run on the edir server -->
it has probably not and it would explain the behaivior.
2) Yes.
3) Yes.
4) ROLESVC Driver version: 3.6.0.4287

I will try running rbpm install on the edir server.

Again, thank you for your help.

Greetings,

Driver version: 3.6.0.4287 -> Role Service Driver 3.6.1

Driver version: 3.7.0.4862 -> Role Resource Service Driver 3.7.0
(Shipping with no patches)

Please run the RBPM_Driver_Install on this eDir server and then restart.
If iManager reports back correctly, and you can assign a resource,
then install the latest Public Patch for version 3.7.0 and perform ALL
of the Special Instructions.

Re: Unsupported operation: nrf:resrequest

It seems like everything but the RBPM_Driver_Install was performed when
the environment was upgraded.
Because Role and Resource (and other 'new' featuers) was not used it
was not realized earlier.

Thank you! Now everything works just as expected.

Re: Unsupported operation: nrf:resrequest

Hmm, I found another RoleResourceService_3_7_0-IDM3_6_0-V1.xml from a
system where it works and where the version reported is 3.7.0.4883. But
deploying a new driver from this file did not change anything. The
version still says 3.6.0.4287.
Must be the files installed on the server which has not been updated
when system went from 3.6 to 3.7.

Thanks you for your help.

I suspect you are getting confused by two items.

An IDM Driver (which the UA driver is) consists of two parts. The shim
itself (some kind of Java, native code, .NET, or whatever) that actually
interacts with the remote system (User App in this case) and then the
policies in IDM that convert eDir events into XDS docs and send them to
the shim.

The XML file you keep looking at is the policies that manage the
processing of the event.

What Steve is referring too is the shim itself, the Java code that
interacts with User App.

Thus applying a newer set of policies does not affect the version number
of the binary code.

Now having said all that, there was an issue in the difference in
policies between UA4 and 4.01 that is important, so like everything else
in life, this is a general rule.

Re: Unsupported operation: nrf:resrequest

Hello,

Changing template/package for driver import in Designer doesn't change the actual driver version. The driver version depends on
the jar file installed which is installed by the RBPM driver installation.

Best regards,
Tobias
