User App 4 Installation on Websphere 7.0

Hello,

We are plannig to install a User Application 4.0 on Websphere 7.0.
Should we run the user application installation (IdmUserApp.jar) on the
websphere server?
Or can we run the install on a diffrent server, after that deploying
the WAR using the WebSphere deployment tools?

If it is advised to run the install on a different server, can we use
the Metadirectory server?

Both the metadirectory and Websphere 7.0 are installed on Windows 2008
R2

Thank you in advance

Greetings,
If you have the IBM java on another machine, then you can perform a
remote install. Otherwise, you will need to run it on the WS 7 server.
This is because we require the IBM java to be used when installing
against WS. The installer will not allow you to continue and provides a
message indicating why.
This is true for each Application Server we support. You must use
the correct vendor of the java for the installer that is used by that
Application.

I do believe this is outlined in the Installation Guide.

Re: User App 4 Installation on Websphere 7.0

Thank you,

Yes for Websphere, it is mandatory to use IBM java with the
unrestricted jce policy files. Otherwise an error occurs when generating
the master key in the installation.

So according to your answer, we can have a separate plateform and do a
user app install with pached IBM java.

After that, configuring WS and deploy the IDMProv.war as mentioned in
the installation documentation.

This is helpful, because in our case we have a retricted access to WS
machine, we can only copy files to a specific folders (for configuration
and jar files required for the user app deployment).
