User Application not contained in an Identity Vault

I've seen this problem for a long time in Designer 4.5, 4.6, and still in 4.7. It seems to affect both Windows and Linux versions. I open up a project, right click on an individual PRD, and select Deploy or Compare and I get a dialog box that states:

"The Driver named 'User Application' is not contained in an Identity Vault. Cannot Proceed"

With just an Ok button. But the User Application driver is indeed in a vault. If I go up to the User App driver level and do a Compare or Deploy, it works perfectly and the PRDs deploy. But I cannot deploy an individual PRD, I get that error dialog. Sometimes after working for a while in a project, it will go away and then I can deploy individual PRDs again. But I have no idea what fixes it!

I've spent some time trying to figure out what makes it go away, but I have been unable to. I've seen it in both the NCP an LDAP versions of Designer.

I'm just getting tired of it and wondering if anyone else has seen this? What am I doing to cause this in my projects? Is it really just me?

Re: User Application not contained in an Identity Vault

I have never noticed that but I wonder how our Designer projects differ.
Have you verified that on the Identity Vault object (big gray rectangle in
the modeler) as well as the DriverSet object (yin-yang square in the gray
rectangle) properties you have a deploy context? I wonder if that is
somehow used to calculate where things are in this one particular case.

This has been going on a long long time. I have 2 Win 7 VMs, 2 Win 10 VMs and a Linux VM with projects from at least 5 different customers that I periodically get the problem on.

Believe me, I've been searching for an answer to this problem a long long time. I was hoping 4.7 would be the final fix but alas, it is not.

Yes, I thought of the too, no difference.

Support appears baffled too as I haven't heard anything since opening an SR back on April 2.

I have seen this on and off since IDM 4.0.2, but until now we have not
been able to track down the cause. There was made some changed to
Designer 4.6 to try to make this better, but it seams that the problem
is still there.

Could I ask you to work with Support on this, as it could be that your
project do have an indication of where the problem is, which might help
in solving the problem.

Sometimes I find, if I get to the PRD via the lower left windows
Provisioning view, which is different than if you expand the UA driver
in the outline view (Upper left) and then AppConfig and so on...

Re: User Application not contained in an Identity Vault

Also have same problem...normally have to restart Designer completely to get "connection" back... Seems odd that its always User App driver and nothing else....must somehow be related to cn=AppConfig

Re: User Application not contained in an Identity Vault

So I am not alone...
I have the same problem at one single IDM-Engine. Must be somewhere in the directory as importing the UserApplication into a brand new workspace did not fix the problem.

I've seen this, but haven't found a way to cause it to happen. At one point I was pretty convinced that it would do it if I didn't have the Role Catalog imported in to the project, but now I'm not sure if that matters or not.

I *may* have just caused this to happen. Try this, see if it works (successfully fails?) for you. In a project that is working correctly, go to the UserApp driver, and create a new PRD. Contents don't matter, just create one. Save it. Close it.

Over under the UserApp, PRDs, Accounts the newly created PRD does not show up in the list.

Close the project. Open the project. Now the newly created PRD *does* show up in the list.

Now try to deploy the new PRD. "User Application is not contained in an Identity Vault."

Re: User Application not contained in an Identity Vault

I can reproduce the issue following the same steps. I imported a new PRD from file, closed the project and then opened the the project. The error appeared until I restarted designer.
