User Application on cluster + Reporting + RMA

Hi,

I 've installed Novell IDM 4.0.2 with the User Application on a cluster
environment with 2 Jboss´s nodes. Tha database is Oracle.
I read the documentation and It´s not clear on how to install the
Reporting Module and RMA on this scenario.
The Reporting´s doc says "NOTE: You must have the Roles Based
Provisioning Module (RBPM) installed before beginning the installation
of the reporting module. The reason for this is that the RBPM and the
reporting module need to be installed on the same application server so
that they can share a secure SSL connection"

Also I read in the NetIQ forum that Reporting is not based on cluster.

Do you have any information on:
- How to install the Reporting on this scenario with UA on cluster.
- How to install the Role Mapping Administrator also on this scenario
with UA on cluster.

Thank and regards,

Luis

Greetings Luis,
RMA and Reporting do not support being installed in a cluster. They
are "Admin" tools and therefore you only install 1 instance of them.

Re: User Application on cluster + Reporting + RMA

Hi Steven,

It means that I need to install a new server with a new Jboss instance
for the Reporting ?
This Jboss will not have any relation with the UA Jboss.

I suppose that in this server I can install the RMA too. It´s correct?

Thanks for your answer. Regards,

Luis

Greetings Luis,
Yes, that is one approach. Depending upon how you have your cluster
set-up of JBoss is, I believe you could have Reporting on 1 of the servers.

RMA does not work on JBoss. It has its own embedded Application
Server (like iManager).

Re: User Application on cluster + Reporting + RMA

Steve,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can install the Reporting Server (not
the EAS) on one node of a JBoss cluster, but the Reporting Server itself
just won't be clustered. Being a seperate app instance under JBoss, the
Reporting Server has it's own JBoss configurations and essentially
ignores the configs of the other app (the UA). The Reporting Server
doesn't use the Oracle DB of the UA but has its own JDBC connection to
the remote EAS/PostgreSQL DB. This configuration allows the Reporting
Server to be utilized as a fall-back UA node in case the other UAs
become unavailable.

Greetings,
That is one way you could do it.
