logActivity tracing in userapp

Hi,

I need to log input/output from a custom workflow (non role- resource
request). I am able to log the input/output in an email, but I need to
be able to save it in log files.
I tried using the logActivity, but when looking for the log file, it
only shows the name of the workflow and the author of the log file.
I am mapping all the fields in the same way as mapping it to an email
template.
Does anyone know how to accomplish this option or if there is any
specific location (different from the default log location) where the
log files will be saved?

Kind Regards,

Michel Hulsen

Greetings,
The log activity has 2 "fields". One will send information to the
server.log & Audit. The other will save it into the User Application
Database.

1) Which field are you adding your code?

2) Please provide an example of what your code looks like

Re: logActivity tracing in userapp

Hello Steven,

I put the code in the Comments Field. The code looks like
"workflow_name_approved"+","+"IDVault.get(flowdata.get('Start/request_form/server')
, 'ICSGroup',
'CN')+","+IDVault.get(flowdata.get('Start/request_form/enduser') ,
'user', 'CN')
So I put in plain text the name of the workflow, from the flow I will
get the cn of the server and the userID.
The code is working correctly, however I am not able to see this in the
log file and our auditing department needs to have this information in
log files.

Kind Regards,

Michel Hulsen

Re: logActivity tracing in userapp

Are you looking in the right places? Check the contents of
[your path to IDMProv]/logs/server.log - this is where your log comments
go by default.

For further options, see also this article:

Re: logActivity tracing in userapp

Hello Wolgang,

I am indeed looking in the server.log file. This is the location where
it only shows the name of the log file and the author of the log file.

Kind Regards,

The 'Comments' field is the wrong one if you want to get data into the log
file; duplicate your code from 'Comments' down into 'Message' as Steve
implies and you should be good to go after redeploying. In the meantime,
what you want should be showing up in the Comments of the workflow as
visible from within the UserApp under the request itself.
