dynamic reconfiguration of LDAP Proxy

Hello,

we habe an applicaiton that is currently not able to reconnect the LDAP
sessions.
While having a couple of edirectory crashes, we now think about putting
the LDAP Proxy infront of it.
Then the application connects onyl to the Proxy and not to the backend.
Tested and works when you kill an edirectory in the background, the
apolicaton does not recognize anything and continues to work because the
LDAP Proxy has switched all oonnections to the other edirectory server.

Question:

will the LDAP Proxy be able to reload it's configuration without
dropping the connections form the applications ?

Meaning when we change something in the config, can that be activated
without any downltime ?

Thanks,
Rainer

Re: dynamic reconfiguration of LDAP Proxy

You could try sending the process a HUP kill signal; that works for some
of eDirectory's settings as one would expect in a traditional Linux/Unix
environment, but I do not know specifically for LDAP Proxy.

kill -HUP PID-GOES-HERE

Re: dynamic reconfiguration of LDAP Proxy

Hi Aaron,

sending the hang up signal does not initiate a reload of the config.
So it looks so far as there is a restart the only options.

Thanks for your time,

Rainer
