Cannot add host - change machine identity failed

Getting this error when trying to add a PC Host in 12.60 lab management.

"change machine identity failed - user already exists with a different password"

UAC is disabled.

Tried resetting IIS and rebooting server.

Ran config wizard again and restarted.

How can I resolve this?

Re: Cannot add host - change machine identity failed

I resolved this issue by uninstalling and reinstalling Performance Center Host on the server. This is very frustrating however. The first installation didn't throw any errors and there was nothing in the logs to indicate a problem. It wasn't such a big issue this time as this 12.60 upgrade was a test run in our Sandbox environment where we only have 2 Load Generator machines. However, in our Production environment we have 45 Load Generator servers! So if we have to do reinstalls on even half of those machines it will become very time consuming.

Can anyone advise on how to avoid such error messages?

Re: Cannot add host - change machine identity failed

Getting this issue again when I try to add a new host - Change Machine Identity Failed and in the logs we see...

Problem during change identity on server [New_Host] error[User [domain\user] does not exists or bad password] [Context: c44de5fb-b4c9-437e-9af8-b79fb122a355] [FullContext: QCServer:http://almserver.domain.com/qcbin UserName:userDomain:DEFAULT Project:LAB_PROJECT]

UAC and DEP are disabled.

All appropriate servers are running.

The account we use to run Performance Center is not disable or it spassword is not expired.

Re: Cannot add host - change machine identity failed

Hello,

If you set the logs on debug, you should see something before this error you listed - some useful information. Let us know what is that.

Best regards,

Re: Cannot add host - change machine identity failed

Hello,

Edit and save the file <Install-Path>\dat\ltlogconf.xml. Locate the section at the end of the file:

Before:

<root>
<level value="Error" />

After:

<root>
<level value="Debug" />

Be sure to revert once you have reproduced, so it won't create performance issues. .

Best regards,

Paul
