I am getting a Status of Non-Operational for our Controller. How do I get this back to Operational?

Re: Controller Non-Operational

Status "Non-operational" could be because of following reasons

If there is any maintenance taking place and to check the time slots

Loadtesting got struck and not responding by performance host.

services on Performance Center host might be down.

Go to the Performance Center host and restart:
Performance Center Load Testing Service

Other services must be started:
DataCollectionAgent
RemoteManagement Agent Service
 Performance Center Agent Service

Re: Controller Non-Operational

Hi BobSmyph,

You can change the status from Non - Operational to Operational by selecting the value Operational from the status field Drop Down List.

In the Hosts module of the Lab Resources ; Controller machine STATUS will transition to Non - Operational from Operational in the below cases.

1) If there is some problem with the below services running on the PC HOST machine where the controller was installed.

   Performance Center Agent Service

   Performance Center Load Testing Service

   RemoteManagement Agent Service

   DataCollectionAgent

NOTE: If there is a problem with the above services; even if you change the status from Non - Operational to Operational by selecting the value Operational from the status field Drop Down List.

Since there is a problem the status will be reverted back to Non - Operational by the Resource Recovery Job or Resource Monitoring Job.

When you fix the problem by restarting the above service's and when you reconfigure the controller host again then the status of it will remain Operational.

   2) Consider that you are running a performance test on 3 load generators using this controller.

If the test fails on any of the load generator , the status of the LG will transition from Non - Operational to Operational.

At the same time since the test was ran using our specific controller, the controller status will also change to Non - Opeartional State.

But, the Auto Resource Recovery job which runs for every 5 mins will identify that there is nothing wrong with the controller       in this case and will revert its status to Operational automatically in the next 5 minutes.

These events can be seen in the 'Event Log' logs of this resource ( controller ).

You need to fix the problem of LG services ( LoadRunner Agent Service and Remote Management Agent Service ) and reconfigure the LG to make it operational.

You need to make sure next time when you run your test onto this LG its running fine and eventully controller is also operational without changing to Non -Operational.

Note: Always when you are reconfiguring the Hosts make sure that "Remote Management Agent Service" is started on the machine.

Let us know if you have any further doubts.

Srihari

Re: Controller Non-Operational

Hi Srihari,

Do we need to check for a space in C: Drive of an issued machine? Or space should not be an issue in this case.

Because sometime i cleared space from C: drive and make operational manually and check status. PC gave me green sign and machine worked fine operationally.

Please confirm my understanding.

Happy to discuss further!!
