Hi,

It depends on what kind of scenario you want to run.
If running a manual scenario, you could set the following

1:- This will ramp up 10 users every 5 secs untill 1000 users are loaded, but this wont be 1000 users concurrent.
start vusers : 10 vusers every 5 secs
Duration : Untill completion

2:- this will ramp up 10 users every 5 secs and would ensure that 1000 concurrent users are running over a period of 30 mins
start vusers : 10 vusers every 5 secs
Duration : 30 mins
Stop vusers : 10 every 5 secs

As you are running 1000 users, loading all at once may cause immense load during login hence ramp up.
Let me know if this resolves your query.

Running with 1000 users is different to running for 1000 iterations. The time taken to run for 1000 users is the same time taken for 1 user to complete the execution as all the 1000 users runs simultaneously and depends on your scenario. If you are ramping up all the users simultaneously then it takes the same time taken for 1 user to complete the execution.

As part of the best practice it is not recommended to ramp up all the users simultaneously and go with gradual increment by giving some time gap eg: 5-10 users for every 10 seconds or so on.
please let me know if you need any more information.

Hi SPP,

I have few more questions

2:- this will ramp up 10 users every 5 secs and would ensure that 1000 concurrent users are running over a period of 30 mins
start vusers : 10 vusers every 5 secs
Duration : 30 mins
Stop vusers : 10 every 5 secs

a)Does duration" 30 mins " includes the
start vusers and Stop vusers?

Can I give the total duration as 2hrs
(30 mins for Ram Up and 30 mins for Ram Down and remaning is for testing)

b)After 1000 vuser 30 mins i.e Ramp up actual test begins right?

Let's say Log In-->Deposit money--->Log out

Raj,

Durarion not includes Ramp up and Ramp down times.
you can give any amount of time for duration (1 hr,2 hr etc)
Yes, Actual test period is 'Duration'.

Thanks

Hi Ravi,

Could you please help how to explain to the client technically .

If I said client , I will give 2 hrs duration to run for 1000 vusers, then the immediate question from the client is why 2 hrs why not 10 mins?

Then what should I say , what I mean to say How do I technically explain?

Please advise me!

Thanks,
Raj

Hi Raj,

To measure the performance of any application, we need to run the load test atleast for an hour. Explain the client that this is the best practice to perform the load test and coming to the duration, the duration mentioned by you will be the duration for Steady State and does not include the Ramp up and Ramp down period.

Sorry dint mean to be rude, but this website is not for learning performance engineering.

It is meant to solve issues with loadrunner/performance center.

Not to teach how to design a scenario.

Hi vpathak78 ,

I know how to design a scenario, here the thing is people not able to understand how it works.

I think none of the QA faced this kind of situation.

Hi vpathak78,

Few performance testing beginners might not have enough support in their work environment and may post the queries what ever they have. They might be simple or might be a kind of training. Let us encourage people use the forum for any kind of questions they have regarding performance center. I understood your intention as this site meants for solving issues but the issues might be of any type. Let's encourage. Not a suggestion, just a request.
