Installing HP Performance Center on AWS EC2

Hi,

We are exploring the option of moving all our ALM / UFT and PC infra from in-house machines to AWS EC2 cloud. I was able to install ALM / UFT and PC Server successfully and configure the same. PC Host installation/configuration passed as well. I can see all the related servcies running. But when I try to add the host in Lab Management, I get the following error when :

java.xml.ws.WebServiceException: org.apache.cxf.service.factory.ServiceConstructionException: Failed to create service

I have all the admin rights to the machine. All related ports have been opened. Firewall is disbaled. The PC load testing agent service is up and running as well. So not sure what service this is referring to. I tried creating a service ticket but that was shot down saying PC host is not supported on AWS EC2. Only standalone LG is supported. If I was able to install/configure PC server, I am wondering why PC host cannot be. Has anybody been successful at this?

Any idea what this error message refers to? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Installing HP Performance Center on AWS EC2

Hello Raj Mohan,

Thanks for posting it and not giving up.

The error you shared is very generic and cannot help much understanding the issue. Not your fault, just stating a fact 🙂

What is the latency between the PC hosts and ALM/PC Server?

Where is the database located? Was it placed in the cloud as well or is it still on premise?

Which windows account is being used as the PC system user? Is it IUSR_METRO? are there any security restrictions on local accounts on AWS EC2?

I am interested in meeting you to see the issue more closely. This week I am too busy. Can we schedule something for next week?

Regards,

Shlomi

Re: Installing HP Performance Center on AWS EC2

Hello Shlomi,

Thanks for the response. All the other components (ALM file server, ALM DB server, PC server, MI Listener) are in AWS EC2 itself. They are all in the same region (US West Coast) as well. So I doubt latency is an issue here. Would attaching the LTLogger or FileLogger be any helpful?

Re: Installing HP Performance Center on AWS EC2

I do not see the IUSR_METRO account on any of the machines when I go to the User Accounts within windows server. Neither in PC server or PC Controller. Shouldnt the user account get created as part of the installation? I log in using an Adminstrator account that has no restrictions. i shall double check with the AWS support once more on that. Thanks again for making yourself available for a meeting. Please let me know what date/time works for you.
