Issues in configuring Linux LG SA 11.52

Jump to solution

I was able to install the LG in my Linux RedHat 6 successfully. I configured as described in the installation document and ran the verify_generator. Everything returned as OK.

I checked that the m_agent_daemon is running.

Note: m_agent_process is not running. Is this an issue?

I added the Load Generator as standalone Unix LG in Lab Management. I gave the user ID and password of my Linux account in the details. Am I supposed to enter some other credentials?

The host got added. But when I initiate a run, it fails at the 'Connect to LG' step.

Is there something I am missing here? Or am I entering the wrong username and password? Are there any other settings I should be checking?

Note: There is no firewall involved here.

The issue is resolved now. It worked when I changed the Hostname in Lab Management from the 'Computer Name' to 'IP address'. I have no idea as to how this solved or what the logic is behind it, but I'm glad it works finally.

You should verify is RSH is enabled on the machine with all the required permission in the Unix machine
where the LG agent is going to be installed.

Because if it isn't you should first to do:

/opt/HP/HP_LoadGenerator/bin/m_daemon_setup -remove

and then

/opt/HP/HP_LoadGenerator/bin/m_daemon_setup -install

and try running scenario again.

The agent is already running in my system. I get the process ID as well.

I have a question: What is the username and password I need to enter in the PC Lab Management when I add a new host as Linux LG? Should they be my User ID and password to the linux machine?

From the Help documentation:

Default username: IUSR_METRO

Default password:  P3rfoRm@1nce

So unless these were change you can try these.

The system user name and password are displayed only for UNIX hosts and for any hosts that were migrated from earlier versions of Lab Management.

I have tried these and still get the same error at Connecting to LGs when I initiate a run.

I see, will need a little more detail.  We would need the w3wp logs in debug mode:

You can change the log level in the \dat\ltconfig.xml file. To change the log level:

1) Open the file, scroll to the end of the document.

2) Locate the <root> section

3) In the level attribute, set value=”Debug”.

Now go to: PC\orchidtmp\ltlogger\w3wp delete all the old logs there and reproduce the issue, and attach that log. We can review it.

Are these locations that you talk about in the PC server or Linux LG machine?

Can you check if RSH is enabled on that machine? I feel this maybe the reason, if you can check and enable it. We may need to configure it over firewall.

RSH is already enabled in my machine. I get the PID when I run ps -ef|grep rsh

Note: There is no firewall configured. All our servers(PC server, controller, LG, data processor) reside in the same network.

Lets try setting up Over Firewall setup with and connect with an MI Listener and see if this allows you to run a test.
