LoadRunner 9.5 / J2EE Diagnostics / Max # of Probes

Jump to solution
I'm running into a problem when configuring J2EE Diagnostics in LR 9.5 (w/ HP Diag v8.03) where only a subset of the available HPD probes are listed in the pick-list.

Is there a max # of probes in the pick-list? Is this configurable?

Currently, the HPD Commander in test has over 1000 probes (spread across 14 Mediators), and many of them are not list.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I don't have enough probes to warrant this, but if you open the .lrs scenario file in WordPad, you might be able to increase the picklist size at this point:

There are several issues that need to be addressed when scaling HP Diags. Much of this has probably been addressed in your installation already, but you might want to check the value of probe.pull.max.threads.

Here is a great site for additional tips: http://www.jds.net.au/tech-tips/scaling-hp-diagnostics/

Thanks, James.

By and large, we have *most* of the architectural / scaling issues with HPD in hand. It was just this weird'ism with the integration with LoadRunner. The Probes show up in the Diagnostics UI, but just didn't show up in the LR Probes pick-list.

The workaround is to sort the list by either probename, probe group, etc to percolate the necessary probes to the top of the pick-list.

Thanks for the URL; it's good to see it the scaling issues nicely documented.
