LoadRunner 9.5 file extensions

When a test was run and results analyzed, in the output.mdb file an error message as follows was recorded at the end of the test 3 times.

Files transfer error: The file/directory C:\Documents and Settings\mercury\Local Settings\Temp\brr_Ia3.880\netdir\z\composite dao 2009.3\results\dao2009_3_08_06_09_pretest\wny-agost-test5_3.map does not exist.

It would appear that loadrunner was attempting to collect some type of information from a .MAP file that was supposed to be on 3 generator machines but was not found.

1) Does anyone know the purpose of the .MAP files?
2) Does anyone know why they would not be found?

I checked on one of the generator machines in question and the brr_Ia3.880 directory was not present.

3) Is this directory supposed to be created on the generator machines at the start of a test?

Thanks, Dave

Dave,

This problem i have faced some time before. This problem happens when you have enabled the extended log for the vuser scripts and the controller PC fails to collate the logs from the generators after execution has completed. First of all, if you really need those files... you need to check whether the disc quota has exceeded or not where the runtime logs are getting created. Other wise specify a seperate location for log file creation

.map files are only available in LR95 onwards. If you are using any LG with lower version, then you will receive this error.

LR internally assumes the transactions names to transaction IDs.

There would be .map files on LG which will have the data of which transction ID represents which transaction.

If you dont have the .map files you wont get the Transaction names in LRA and will show the transaction IDs..which will make your job of analyzing response times tough.
