LoadRunner to test SunFire Servers

Jump to solution
I need to test the performance of SUN SunFire Servers with SUN OS. can any one guide me through the Do's & Donot's while working for SunFire. And also how we monitor the server & hence finding the bottleneck's of the server.

Your every suggestion is of importance for me,plz do share them.

It should be no problem testing against Sun. You will need rstatd running on the sun servers and use the Unix Resource monitor to pull the server metrics during your load tests.

The normal problem with monitoring the servers would be security. As long as the RPC port for rstatd is not blocked you should have no problems connecting. The Unix Resource monitor has a known problem on networks with heavy traffic. If one RPC call to rstatd fails the monitor will stop. The work around for this is to use SiteScope. There are free points to use in SiteScope for monitoring Unix because of this issue.

There is plenty of information in the Performance Center/LoadRunner manuals on seting up the monitors.
