Can you please clarify exactly what you want to do and what you mean by different instance of Performance Center?  If you mean a different project that is managed in the same Site Admin DB then this is fairly easy.  If you are talking about a project that is managed by a totally different Site Admin DB then it is much more difficult.

We can copy test plans (for Performance Center this is the load testing scenario) from one project to another project in the same instance of ALM\PC.

  1. Login to your source project, go to the test plan page, highlight the scenario / test plan (one or more) that you want to copy, right click, choose copy,
  2. Change project (don't logout),  select the project that will be the destination and then paste that scenario / test plan into a folder on the test plan page.

Remember you will also have to copy any scripts that are referenced by the scenario and you will need to recreate the directory structure exactly otherwise you will need to edit the load testing scenario to point to the location of the scripts.

There is currently no method for copying a scenario / test plan or scripts to a project that is hosted in a different instance of ALM (like to send the scenario to a different company, or even a different instance of ALM / PC in the same company).

A different instance is defined as projects managed by a different Site Administration DB.  (different Domains are not the same as different instances)

If you must copy the scenario to a different instance, you would have to copy the entire project.  There are a couple of ways to do this.

  1. If your project DB and repository combined are less than 2GB you can perform an export from the Site Admin site, create a qcp file that you send to the administrator of the other instance.  They import that qcp file into their version of Performance Center that is at the same version.

  2. If your project DB and repository combined are larger than 2GB you would have to export the DB and zip of the repository manually, transfer those files to the different instance of Performance Center, import the DB using the tools available to the DBA, restore the repository, edit the dbid.xml for the project and update the necessary fields and then restore the dbid.xml into the new instance Site Admin.

These are high level steps and you would want to confirm all of the individual steps as a test before moving production data from one instance of PC to another.

For most load testing scenarios it would probably be much simpler to send the scripts, upload them then recreate the scenarios rather than copy the entire project.

I would suggest that you could open an Enhancement Request with HP if you feel this is something that you would need and they could evaluate if this is something that could be added to some future version of Performance Center.

Greetings Payochi1

Hoping you are doing well!

I am a Performance Center/ LoadRunner support representative, I will be researching about this futher and then I will provide valuable information.

It is possible but it requires some correct steps to do it.

Please give me a little time to investigate and get back to you as soon as possible.

Kind Regards,

Thanks for the info. There is a PC 11.52 installed and being used by the department I am working in, but a new and seperate installation of PC is in the works for a different depratment. There is a major project pending to be tested using that new installation. Tosave time, we were wondering if it would be possible to create the scenarios in the current working PC 11.52, and later on when the second installation is complete, somehow migrate or export the scenarios into it.

To accomplish this you should export or copy the entire project using one of the two steps I outlined.
