RTE script escape key

After successfully recording a simple RTE script (login, 1st menu, 2nd menu, escape) during the play back the escape key function does not work. The escape key will return you to the previous menu and the script stalls once the first escape key comes into paly during play back. I am using V9 VuGen and recording on an AIX server using RTE protocol.

TE_type("01");
TE_wait_text("Esc-Return To Main Menu", 90);
TE_wait_cursor(40, 22, 100, 90);
TE_type("01");
TE_wait_text("_", 90);
TE_wait_cursor(54, 22, 100, 90);
lr_think_time(2);
TE_type("");
TE_wait_text("Esc-Return To Main Menu", 90);
TE_wait_cursor(40, 22, 100, 90);
TE_type("");

Here is the area that fails once the first escape key comes into play. I tried both adding the kf3 and the sync and they did not work. This is a real simple script, 01 return gets 1st menu, 01 again gets 2nd menu, then escape to go back to 1st menu, that is it. Adding the entire script in txt file.

I feel your pain. I too am suffering from this problem, I am combining the Escape key with the characters of [ and @ to trigger a key press that should infact be the equivalent of pressing the F4 key.

No joy though. Did you ever get a resolution on this?

Got mine to work by using the control set characters for - \x1b

so in the instance of trying to type - TE_type("" I could use TE_type("\x1b")

I am able to record a script using RTE protocol..  I need to navigate almost five pages to complete one transaction..
To move to the previous page,I need to use ESC button.. I have
scripted this manual action through LR using RTE protocol.. The issue
here is when I replay the script , the esc button is not functioning
properly.. The script contains this code TE_TYPE ("<Escape>").. What
do I need to do to resolve this Escape issue/???

Please help me out in this... Your efforts would be greatly
appreciated
