Rendezvous point in Load Runner.

Jump to solution
Hi All,

Ex: Bank application.

To see the performance of the system if 1000 users try to deposit in their accounts one time.
Can instruct 1000 vuser to login and do some deposit transaction to their respective accounts by inserting rendezvous point i.e. lr_rendezvous(“Name of rendezvous”)let’s say lr_rendezvous(“Deposit ”)function right before deposit transaction, loadrunner pauses the vusers who ever reach that point(login and see thier account, about to deposit) and waits for all other vusers to reach to that particular point.

My question is do I need to add any function to unreleased rendezvous unlike lr_rendezvous(“Name of rendezvous”)i.e lr_rendezvous(“Deposit ”) or does it automatically releases the rendezvous?
Please advise me
Thanks,
Raj

The Vusers at the rendezvous are automatically released. As explained in the VuGen user guide the behavior is:

When a Vuser arrives at the rendezvous point, it waits until all Vusers participating in the rendezvous arrive. When the designated number of Vusers arrive, the Vusers are released.

You designate the meeting place by inserting a rendezvous point into your Vuser script. When a Vuser executes a script and encounters the rendezvous point, script execution is paused and the Vuser waits for permission from the Controller to continue. After the Vuser is released from the rendezvous, it performs the next task in the script.

Your approach is correct and the rendezvous releases automatically once all the users reaches the particular point and applies the load on the server simultaneously.

If you want to have rendezvous point for login and Bill History, place them just before that particular step starts.

So, you will have: lr_rendezvous("Login") before step 4 and lr_rendezvous("Bill History") before step 5
