Tools free for load tests

Hi;

Actualy I use LoadRunner to realize the load tests (any problem) but I would like to use another tool open source (free) in additionnal of LoadRunner.
There are several tools open source : Jmeter, Opensta, etc..
and I would like to know your opinion on these tools and if you can me recommended a tool (the most complete).

Re: Tools free for load tests

Most of the tools are good, but you will not get all features in one tool.

If you are planning for huge vuser load test/longer duration...I would not recommened open source tools....as you would not get any support and product might not scale upto expected load.

LR best fits for enterprise application environment, stability, scalability & support.

Leaving other for their views/opinion on this.

Re: Tools free for load tests

My vote would go to JMeter. Have used it some 2-3 years back and it was really good.

Re: Tools free for load tests

Start here: http://jakarta.apache.org/jmeter/

Comparison:

Additional links:

Comparing LR & JMeter wouldn't be a very wise thing to do as LR has many benefits over JMeter, except for its high license cost. However, you can compare JMeter with other open source tools like OpenSTA, Grinder etc..

Re: Tools free for load tests

This page gives a nice comparision of JMeter vs. LoadRunner. Here is another page that gives opinions of additional load testing tools, many of which are open source.

That being said, there are opinons on the same site that say HP LoadRunner is the best tool for its purpose, the open source ones just don't cut it.
