Transferring projects from 1 environment to another

Scenario:

We have a Sandbox environment where we practiced upgrade from 12.50 to 12.55. We have 2 projects there on version 12.55. Now that we have upgraded Production to 12.55 we would like to transfer these 2 projects from Sandbox to Production

So these are the steps I did:

1.. Took database backups of the 2 Sandbox projects and copied them over to the Production DB server.

2. Restored the 2 projects on Production database server,

3. Copied the project repositories from Sandbox repository to the Production repository.

4. Edited the dbid.xml files so that they have the correct information for Production environment (database server name, password etc, as well as the physical respository directory.)

5. Tried to restore in Production Site Admin but getting an error:

Failed to Restore Project; Failed to restore project. Failed to fetch database version from project1_db; Failed to fetch database version from project1_db; Failed to obtain a connection to schema 'project1_db'. com.hp.alm.platform.db.CTdDbException: Can't create a new database connection.; Can't create a new database connection.;

Something obviously not quite right with the database settings after I performed the backup from Sandbox db server and restore on Production db server.

Can anyone please advise? Thanks.

Re: Transferring projects from 1 environment to another

Hi,

Have you tried to export the project from ALM Site Admin and Import it in the production environment?
