Changing the Load Generator for Linux Vuser Log Local Root Temporary Directory

Jump to solution

When running scenarios from Controller using a remote Load Generator for Linux (running on RedHat), Vuser logs are written under "/tmp/brr_...".  On my host, the /tmp file system is smaller than other potential locations (e.g., /var/tmp) and results in the file system filling up during long runs.

I have tried exporting the TEMPDIR, TEMP, and TMP environment variables to set the local root temporary directory to no avail.  Is there a way to set the local root temporary directory before starting the daemon on Linux?

I am using version 12.00 of the Load Generator for Linux.

Thanks, Brian

Hello Brian,

In order to change the temporary directory please follow this steps

On Linux  Load Generators:

1. Close the agent.
2. Verify that the new location exists.
3. Run "setenv MERC_TEMP_DIR <new location>" where <new location> is the new location of the temp directory.
4. Restart the agent.

Daniela,

Thank you for the quick reply.

Changing this environment variable worked perfectly.  I was able to successfully change the local root directory used for logging, etc. to a directory under /var/tmp.
