If I run LoadRunner on my laptop and point to a server am I testing my laptop or the server

Jump to solution

I'm trying to test my production server with LoadRunner and I'm having a problem accessing the url, which I can access manually from the server. If I run LoadRunner from the client and point to the server am I testing the Load on the server or the client?

Hi anegin,

your LoadRunner is installed on your laptop, correct?

The server is a different computer, correct?

if both answers are correct, than while runnign LoadRunner on your laptop and running a script that was recording actions on the server, you are testing the server (https://ifw9anrs-2k8fs2/rapp/) , not your laptop. your laptop is acting as a Load Generator, not an application under test.

hope this clarifies things a little better,

Thanks,

Lior

Hi anegin
To answer your question, the load is run on what was recorded. If you recorded the server, it will be loaded and you will be testing that load.
Good luck,

I'm not quite sure what you are telling me.  If I'm running LoadRunner from my laptop and I link to this url (https://ifw9anrs-2k8fs2/rapp/) and I set up LoadRunner to go to that url and do a bunch of activities on that url is it testing the load on my laptop or https://ifw9anrs-2k8fs2/rapp/? I'll be recording my activities on my laptop while I'm accessing https://ifw9anrs-2k8fs2/rapp/
