Issues recording citrix desktop sessions

So i'm performing a multi-protocol recording (Citrix ICA and Web -http/html) and the script will record everything i do in the web browser (going to the site, logging, etc) but once i go to launch the citrix desktop nothing gets recorded and the citrix desktop wont respond to my mouse. I can't clikc onkay to login to the desktop and vugen wont record anything once the citrix desktop has been launched.

It's not a problem with the citrix desktop because as soon as i stop recording or close out vugen everything works fine.

Do i need to be using different protocols for recording citrix desktop settings? Is there something else that needs to be done?


EDIT: I also tried using the truclient and had no luck either. It stops recording actions once the citrix desktop is launched.

Hi,

You must use Citrix Receiver 4.7 or 4.9, any newer version might not work as expected.

This might be caused by Citrix opening the ica file through their addon on IE that causes Citrix Receiver to open or Citrix Receiver for HTML5 to open in browse. As it is not opening in LoadRunner Citrix client (runCitrixClient.exe) VuGen is not able to record any events.

Try record using Chrome or Firefox browser and go to Storefront and make sure you do NOT install any Citrix addon, click the option that you already have Citrix receiver. When you click your app or desktop an ica file is downloaded. Open that ica file with runCitrixClient.exe located in LoadRunner bin folder(make sure the VuGen recording is started). Now you should be able to see events beging recorded.

Hello Marcel,

I have a free trial community edition account.  Loadrunner  12.60 and Citrix client 4.12 installed on Windows 10.

I'm doing the same as you described above:  I login in storefront using Chrome or Firefox, download the .ica file and then open the file using Vugen's runCitrixClient.exe. 

I can use the published application (Notepad for debugging purposes) and record web + citrix session only if I use the keyboard. From the moment I click something, I cannot use the application anymore (It doesn't respond to mouse actions or key strokes).

Is there anything I can do to be able to use mouse actions ?

I have downgraded Citrix Receiver to version 4.9 and now it works as expected. Thanks  🙂
