LR Parameters inquiry

Hi,

I have some challenges on handling parameters with data that has dynamic multiple partners.

Data would look like something like this:

image.png

I have tried googling and searching on forums, however I am not finding any related information about this (or not sure if I am keying the right keywords)

I am wondering if LoadRunner can handle this kind of Data.

I am also not that good on C programming.

I hope you could share or advise me on how to handle this kind of data in LoadRunner.

TIA.

JM

Re: LR Parameters inquiry

Hi JM,

Can you elaborate on how you want to use this data in a parameter?

How does A relate to A.1, for example?

Re: LR Parameters inquiry

Hi Edo,

Thanks for your reply.

One sample use case maybe for this is:

1. user will log in to the system
2. there will be a field where user will be entering "A"
3. After entering "A", another field(s) will appear where he will need to enter A.1, A.2, A.3
4. This will be the same for the next user that will be entering "B" on the system, then enter B.1, B.2

Lets say A is Param1, and A.1, A.2, A.3 is Param2.

Param1 and Param2 are unique values, however, Param2 quantity is dynamic and it is referenced to Param1.

I hope it clears up, even it is a not so good explanation.

Thanks.

JM

Re: LR Parameters inquiry

Hi JM,

Can you use four Parameters ?

Make A, A.1, A.2, A.3 at same row, so Vu can read all A Parameter in one iteration.

Hope this can help.

Thanks,

Brandon

Re: LR Parameters inquiry

Hi JM,

AFAIK, this structure is not supported in parameters out-of-the-box.

I can think of 2 alternatives:

  1. Use each parameter to store both Param1 and Param2 values, concatenated into one string, using a predefined delimiter (e.g: using the '$' sign as the delimiter - "A$A.1$A.2$A.3").
The parse the values out and use them as you wish.
This will support any number of Param2 values.
  2. Use VTS.
It requires a separate server but is more flexible in queries then the parameters.

Re: LR Parameters inquiry

Hi Brandon,

I am not sure if that is possible, but i will give it a try.

Protocol used for this is SAP GUI.

Thanks.

Re: LR Parameters inquiry

Hi Edo,

Thanks for this.

I will check this out. We are using a SAP GUI protocol for the recording.
