Load testing video streaming website

Hi

I need advise for one my current load testing project. The Application has been built with video steaming feature which needs to be load tested for at least 150 to 200 users. The videos has been shared through 3rd party - Vimeo.

We are using Loadrunner tool for testing. I'm trying to record the flow using Web http/html and the following has been recorded in VuGen.

https://player.vimeo.com/video/{videoID}?title=0&byline=0&autoplay=1;

followed by

https://player.vimeo.com/log/play",

https://vimeo.com/ablincoln/vuid?pid=0e17ae2d288717396921dcdd78540e3182058e01483706023",

Now I wanted to verify whether the video content has been fully downloaded and run fine during the load test. How Can I verify this??

Thanks,
Thiyagu

Re: Load testing video streaming website

Hi Shlomi,

Can you please confirm on if Truclient supports recording of video streaming as well.

My scenario is as below:

- User logs in to the website

- The video automatically got started or user clicks on the play button

- The video got loaded and start running

Please suggest if any easiest way out to record above scenario.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Shiv

Re: Load testing video streaming website

HI Shiv,

TruClient might be good for these use cases. It depends however what is the video plugin,

> HTML 5 based video should be fine.

> Flash might be more challening, but still doable in most cases

> Technologies that require a browser plugin to be installed are even more challenging since it requires configuration of the  browser profile for each Vuser and that requires deep knowledge in the way TruClient manages the browser profile. Sometimes it is impossible even if you have the knowledge.

Give it a try.

Shlomi
