Re: LoadRunner for mainframe

Maybe if the application is web based and connects to the database via the web teir backend. But in dealing with a mainframe only (like OS2200 from Unisys) I am not sure how well that would work out. You could attempt it with the RDE protocol, which is similar to the terminal interface of a mainframe.

edit: RDE protocol, similar to the telnet/remote into the mainframe.

Re: LoadRunner for mainframe

You can test the mainframe service calls in LoadRunner using SOAP/REST.

Re: LoadRunner for mainframe

Yes, you can use RTE emulation but you will need a terminal emulator itself to run the screens or software. Try Reflections. There is a problem with 12.53 VuGen and has to do with PowerTerm. Microfocus is working on that now. The replay hangs up before it gets to Reflections.

Re: LoadRunner for mainframe

I did a lot of test in mainframe environment using RTE Protocol without particular critical issues. The problem is the lack of documentation on using that protocol, but you can record a small part of your navigation in a terminal display and after handle the bytecode to build the script.
