MTOM implementation

Hi All,

We need to test a service and it has operations that uploads documents. MTOM is implemented in the service end. We are trying to implement MTOM in LR as well. Read somewhere that LR supports MTOM, but could not find any documentation about the implementation. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Ramya,

You can try using Security Scenarios feature:

- Open Manage Services dialog

 - Import WSDL using .NET toolkit

- Select the imported service, then navigate to Protocol and Security tab

- Click Edit Data button and select Optimization Scenarios/MTOM scenario type. You can use WCF/Custom binding scenario type for more complicated case.

(For more details, you can refer to LoadRunner Help Center at following section: Vugen/Protocols/Web Services/Web Services - Security/Security Scenarios Overview/Scenario Categories)

- Then add web_service_call, in Web Service Call dialog, select the document you want to upload in right Input Arguments

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Thien

Thanks Thien! I have one more question though..Does this soulution work only if create new web service calls? because we have created scripts long ago and now we just want to implement MTOM as our client is implementing this..

Thanks in advance!

Ramya.

Hi,

This security scenario should work with existing web_service_call not only with new one. Here are some important things to notice when use security scenario:

- All the other web_service_set_security calls will be skipped.

- All services in your script should have the same security scenario. This can be configured via the Protocols and Security tab.

Thanks Thien! We will try that..Is there a way to validate the MTOM implementation other than comparing response times of non-MTOM vs MTOM test (I read that MTOM speeds up uploading and retrieving documents).

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ramya,

I can't think about any other ways than compare their transfer time, size, response time.

Can this MTOM setting be used with soap request or does it work only for web service calls?

Thanks,

Ramya.

It works only for web_service_call.
