Problem with using Loadrunner in Jenkins

I am trying to run Loadrunner tests from jenkins.

We use Loadrunner version 12.55 and jenkins version 2.141.

I installed the "Micro Focus Application Automation Tools" plugin.

I created a Jenins slave for the machine Loadrunneris installed on.

I created a free-style software project in jenkins with a "Execute Micro Focus tests from file system" and a "Publish Micro Focus tests result" step.

When i start the test it will run, but the results do not end up in Jenkins.

Also the process that runss the loadtest sometimes crashes.

Any idea what i am doing wrong?

Re: Problem with using Loadrunner in Jenkins

Hi @Patrick the Tester,

Can you please share with us the scenario you are running and a dummy copy of the scripts? By dummy copy is just the same scripts only empty with lr_think_time() inside the transactions.

We will try reproducing it internally?

Also, you can open a support ticket so we can work more closely on that.

Regards,
Shlomi

Re: Problem with using Loadrunner in Jenkins

Hello Patrick,

Can you see the results in Jenkins when the Controller crash doesn't happen? If not, see if report archieve mode is set to "Always archieve and publish test reports". Also, please provide the console log and the Jenkins plugin version.

Regarding the crash, we will need a crash dump. You can take one by using ADPlus: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/webdav_101/2012/01/26/taking-dumps-with-the-adplus-executable/.

Rolando

Re: Problem with using Loadrunner in Jenkins

Both with or without the crash i do not get the results of the Loadrunner test in jenkins.

I will have to check if i am allowed to use the debugging tool.

Re: Problem with using Loadrunner in Jenkins

Can i create a support ticket if we are using the community edition?

The location where Loadrunner saves the results of the test, do i have to change that to inside the Jenkins workspace?

Re: Problem with using Loadrunner in Jenkins

Hello Patrick,

You don't have to change the location. The plugin automatically saves the reports on both slave and master. On slave, it should be on: ../jenkins/workspace/<job_name>/<build_identifier> (here there should be three directories: see html, lra and lrr) and on master: ../jenkins/jobs/<job_name>/builds/<build_number> (the reports are in performancereport directory). Please open a ticket on jenkins JIRA.

Rolando
