TruClient Firefox: blank page on https navigation

Hi all,

I have recorded a script using TruClient-Firefox (LR 12.53, Firefox version 40.0.3) and its execution goes well...until when, suddenly, after the login phase, the landing on the home page ends with a blank page.

Now, if I reach the URL with IE or Chrome from any workstation, the web browsing is OK, but if I use (or record) the same actions on TruClient-Firefox it ends with the blank page.

I'm pretty sure that it's not a certificate problem because, if so, an error message appear before the login.

I ask if you can help me to resolve this terrible problem. Have you ever seen a matter like that?

Thank you very much for any type of help,

Lorenzo

Re: TruClient Firefox: blank page on https navigation

Have you tried to re-record the step? (record before this step, then delete the original step).
Have you tired to run the script in Load mode (in VuGen by clicking the play button before Develop script).
Have you tried to switch it to another browser to see if it work (then possibly back again after)
(working with back ups of the script all the time of course:))

Re: TruClient Firefox: blank page on https navigation

Hi Brian,

I appreciate your support. I've already tried to re-record all the navigation from beginning, and both on VuGen and Develop mode the script ends with error in the blank page. Also, the same navigation goes well (so without a blank page) on Chronium.

I'm wondering what's the problem because I always used that script for load test and suddenly doesn't work well. Rather, if I run the script, sometimes (very very few times) it shown the home page correctly on Firefox...but immediately after failed.

Can you help me?

Thanks,

Lorenzo

Re: TruClient Firefox: blank page on https navigation

Hmm, weird. If it did always work and stopped working then that's unusual. I wonder if the installation became interrupt? Do you have another VuGen installation that you could try it on? or maybe reinstall the one on your machine?
Hopefully someone else can come back with any other suggestions.

You could also try to launch firefox.exe manually and see if it still works.
(under the bin folder in your installation folder)

Re: TruClient Firefox: blank page on https navigation

Hi Brian,

thank you again for suggestions. I've already tried with the Firefox browser under the /bin directory of LoadRunner folder, but the behavior is the same: sometimes the navigations goes well, some other times (in the majority) after the login I'm blocked on a blank page.

The problem is common on different workstation, so I don't think it's a installation issue.

Can you give me some other ideas? Can anyone else help me with this terrible bug?

Re: TruClient Firefox: blank page on https navigation

It's starting to sound more and more like an issue with the website. Can you ask one of your web developers to have a look for it?
You could also try a later version of LoadRunner as a POC. LR 12.60-12.63 has Firefox version 58.0.2; and LR 2020 (LoadRunner Professional) has TruClient Browser (equivalent to Mozilla 65.0.3).

Can it be reproduced on Firefox on a non-LR machine? That might help find if it's a version issue.

Re: TruClient Firefox: blank page on https navigation

If I use Firefox in other machine (for example, a portable version), the application doesn't work well, rather it stopped before the login phase!

I asked to the responsable of the application and they told me that there're not modifies on the architecture (I'm not fully convinced...). Also I prove it on LR 12.60...and the problem it's the same.

I'm wondering if there's some escamotage from the script to make the behavior goes well...

Thanks, Brian, you are very kind to be interested in the problem.

Re: TruClient Firefox: blank page on https navigation

Hi @lb1,

It looks there are some changes from your site, which cause it no longer works with Firefox 40 (or even Firefox 58, as you mentioned it doesn't work on LR 12.60).

1. It's valuable to check if it works with real Firefox browser, version 40, and version 58. From Install an older version of Firefox, you can download old version of Firefox here. If it doesn't work with real Firefox browser, please check with your web site team.

2. If it works well with real Firefox 40 or 58, there must be something different in TruClient Firefox (or TruClient Browser) and real Firefox 40 (and 58). Need more information to locate the problem. I'd encourage you to submit a ticket to MF. Detailed logs for both scenarios (working with real Firefox, and not working with TC Firefox) is good starting point to investigate. If you want, you can post me the logs in private message.

Re: TruClient Firefox: blank page on https navigation

Hi Alex,

thanks for your response. I tried to install a previous version of Firefox (45) and the newest one (72) and in both case the url doesn't have a correct behavior. In particular, with Fx 45 I can't overcome the login phase; with Fx 72 I can pass the credential mask but home page doesn't always show up. So I'm agree with your opinion that this can be an applicative issue and LoadRunner hasn't to blame!

I confirm this fact when I'll sure about this, but for the moment...thank you!
