Truclient send arbitrary keystroke to non-input field DOM object

Is there any way to have Truclient to send an arbitrary keystroke to a DOM element it does not recognize as an input field? Specifically we have non-editable drop-list controls that when sent a letter keystroke respond by selecting the first element of the drop-list that matches the typed letter. This can be far more reliable and simple than a complex Xpath to find the sublist element (which may not even exist yet in the DOM if the list is dynamic).

But it seems Truclient does not give any option to send a keystroke to the drop-list. Generic object action gives these options:

but "Press Key" gives only the following allowed keys:

I want to send an arbitrary key (e.g. "s") to the combobox. Can Truclient do this? It would really help simplify some scripting scenarios.

BTW, using 12.63.
