Can we record a web script in LR [Tru-Client] and replay it with different version's of chrome?

Hi Team,

Urgent requirement!
Can we record any url/script from LR [any latest version] with any protocol [Tru-Client preffered] and replay or run it with making changes in different versions of chrome-in built in LR , .ie. running with different version of chromium?

Thanks

Shorty Quick answer :    NO

Note the older  LR truclient scri-Pt  can be use/update in New  version of loadruner Truclient.; HOWEVER they will be modifified in the process and thus not able to run in the old version again

Best practice is to:

--open all older Truclient scripts in the new Vugen,

--run the scripts,

--edit as needed

--save them before running in the new controller

also you can only go up   is. 12.20 Truclient script to LR 12.57 not down

ALL scripts created in new loadrunner will NOT work properly in older versions .

Hi David,

I expected the same. Is there any way or any other tool in your knowledge which helps in running a script with different browsers versions of chrome?

Thanks

Each TruClient version is tightly coupled with the browsers it's provided with.

To run on a newer browser version, you can use a newer LoadRunner/TruClient version.

There is no tool to run the same version with a different browser.

Re: Can we record a web script in LR [Tru-Client] and replay it with different version's of chrome?

Hi EDO,
I just saw options for multiple browser versions for HTTP protocol.
Runtime settings>Browser>Browser Emulation>Use Browser option. [Refer screenshot]BrowserVersion.PNG

Couple of things to ask.
1. Can HPE LR team update the tool with latest chrome versions, as latest version for chrome in the market is 67.x.x and LR is supporting max 36.x.x

2. If TruClient script can be converted to HTTP/HTML script using conversion option and then use these mentioned multiple versions to run the same. ?

Sometimes, code has issues with chrome version's . Developer's code break in some version's and not in others. To emulate a real user scenario [ assuming user must be running various chrome version's- Latest is a must], we are testing this requiremnet.

Let me know your thoughts on it.

Best Regards,
Nikhil

Re: Can we record a web script in LR [Tru-Client] and replay it with different version's of chrome?

Hi Nikhil,

User Agent Selection in the Web - HTTP/HTML protocol is quite different from TruClient. The major difference is that no browser is actually used, but rather it is emulated at the header user-agent string level.

I'll forward your notice about updating the list to the relevant team. Note that you can enter your own user-agent string. You can find the string for each browser version online.

Before converting a TruClient script to Web - HTTP/HTML scripts, you should understand the change this implies: the script will no longer be executed within the browser and any UI based logic in the script will be lost. The resulting script will need to be maintained like any other Web script, including correlations and script code editing.

Furthermore, conversion in the other direction is not possible.

No version of TruClient supports running on multiple versions of the same browser, for the reasons I mentioned earlier.
