Cannot Start HP Web Tours Server

Jump to solution

I'm trying to use the LoadRunner tutorial.  When I run HP Web Tours Server the software just hangs. I've let it run for 10 minutes and there is no progress.  Has anyone else had this problem? Suggestions.  It's running on Windows Server 2008 R2

Thank you for your response.  As it turns out I was mistaken. I thought the StartServer.bat was hanging. It wasn't. I apologize for even creating this issue.

Re: Cannot Start HP Web Tours Server

Hi Anegin,

do you mean that you activated the web server and than tried to access the application and you do not see the web site?

if so, maybe the port is blocked.

try modifying the httpd.conf file (located at C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\LoadRunner\WebTours\conf\httpd.conf) and modify the parameter "Listen 1080" to "Listen <another value>"

restart the machine and try again.

hope this helps,

Lior

Hi Lior,

Just to confirm that I had the same issue when trying to load web tours server with windows 7 on a VM where the web server would not work.

I followed your instructions to change the indicated file to listen to another port (understanding for some reason port 1080 was not available) and ran the application. I change the port address in the url and web tours loaded

Cheers -

🙂

Re: Cannot Start HP Web Tours Server

Thank you for idea how to fix.

This is the best answer among I've found on internet. Simple!!!!

I  think in addition to your recommendation need to try at first next:
Find line in file httpd.conf with text

#ServerName localhost:1080

and remove comment :

ServerName localhost:1080

Save and restart.

After restart HP Web tour Server Web tour application opens.

May be you don't need to change value Listen 1080.

If not working try to change both :

Listen <another value>

and

ServerName localhost:<another value>

And one more advice:

After starting HP Web tour Server (I'm using Windows Server 2012 R2) appear not clear message in command window. Do not close as it says in message. You can minimize window. If you close  - server will stop and you can't start Web tour application

Good luck!

I've got the same issue when trying to launch HP web tour for loadrunner. I can see the command window but the web page can't be displayed as expected. I leave the window open for quite a while but nothing happens.

I checked httpd.conf file and here are the current settings. Do I have to change the listen to port to another value? Thanks.

ServerName localhost:1080

Listen 1080hp loadrunner cmd window.jpg

Hi,

Yes, I've tried all the suggestions. I changed port number to 1070 and restart. But it's still not working for me.

Re: Cannot Start HP Web Tours Server

Hi LIor

If I just input http://localhost,  my browser will show that fail to open the page.

I'm using Edge on Windows 10. LR should be compatible to Edge, isn't it?

Regards,

Matthew

Hi Mathew

That depends - which version of LoadRunner are you using?

Thanks,

Lior

Re: Cannot Start HP Web Tours Server

I faced same issue and couldnt start web tours server after Java upgrade. After banging my head for around 2 hours, below solution worked for me

Opened httpd.conf file under below directory
C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\LoadRunner\WebTours\conf
and changed Listen port from 1080 to 1090 and was able to start web tours application.
Default Value:
Listen 1080
Modified value
Listen 1090
Now to access web tours application, use URL
http://127.0.0.1:1090/WebTours/index.htm
