Has anyone played with ctrx_get_text_ocr() yet? ...

This was buried in the 12.53 release notes:

General Protocol Enhancements Citrix: Optical Character Recognition (OCR) text trapping. For details, see the Function Reference.

In the docs (thanks, Scott Moore), I see this:
http://lrhelp.saas.hpe.com/en/latest/help/function_reference/FuncRef.htm#citrix_ica/lrFr_ctrx_get_text_ocr.htm

Has anyone tried it yet? Could be a game-changer.

Hello Speedmaster.

I hope you are fine today.

I would like to know what do you mean? Are you facing some kind of issue using this function?

I appreciate if you can elaborate a little bit more.

Thanks. And no problems so far.

Just surprised that this was buried in the release notes and they didn't make a bigger deal out of it. If it works reliably it would be a huge win for Citrix users. Works in my limited testing so far.

Re: Has anyone played with ctrx_get_text_ocr() yet? ...

Hi,

I'm using  Vugen 12.01 and I'm having issue with ctirix function ctrx_get_text() always returning empty string.

There is an recommended to use OCR software to convert bitmap image to text.

How can we use the OCR software in Vugen 12.01.?

Your guidance is appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Dieu-Ai,

When you have a question for a different function when the one in the thread, please open a new topic as it will have better visibility.

The possible reasons you do not get value from  the function ctrx_get_text() are:

  1. the  agent is not installed on the Citrix server;
  2. the text you are trying to capture is a bitmap. (ctrx_get_text works only when the text is real text and not a bitmap)
  3. or the rectangle VuGen is searching in during replay does not match with the position of the text. (Please check the snapshots during recording and replay)

The Citrix protocol is supposed to work with the build in protocol functions.

As what you what to achieve with the OCR software is implemented in the function ctrx_get_text_ocr, I  would suggest to upgrade to 12.53 and try . The function was added in 12.53 and is not  available in your version of VuGen.

What ctrx_get_text_ocr does is to retrieve the text from a bitmap or from a character string.

Kind regards,
Vesela
