Micro Focus is proud to announce that we will now be awarding digital badges to users that pass Micro Focus certification exams. We will also be awarding badges for select programs for past certification earners. These badges will be available through the Credly Acclaim open-badge platform, which provides user profiles to show badges earned, but also the ability to share badges on a variety of social media platforms.

This new digital credential takes the traditional certificate and improves on it by listing the skills, education, and certification requirements needed to pass the exam. Each of these listed requirements can be clicked on to view additional details. This gives added value to the badge holder by demonstrating in detail the skills and accomplishments required. Badges shared on social media and with employers give these viewers more insight into skills and knowledge held by the earner.

Traditionally, a certificate only had true meaning for those that had also studied for and/or taken the same certification exam. To anyone else, that certificate on the wall could elicit anything from a shrug to envy, based on the perceived value of the certification to the marketplace.

Badges give further power to the earner by giving them another tool in the job market. A resume only allows for so much information—typically several job dpbadge.pngtitles and a short list of skills. Everyone that has ever created a resume realizes they’re usually stuck with a rote set of skills that often seem generic when listed with bullet points on a single sheet. What is missing are those detailed skills that matter on the job, which are, ultimately, the things that make a person unique and the perfect candidate for a specific job. Badges allow prospective employers to see both learned and demonstrated skills at a granular level. This increases both hiring competency and job satisfaction by getting the right people in the right jobs.

Badges will be awarded from Micro Focus in 3 distinct levels: Professional, Expert, and Solutions Master, depending on the rigor and requirements needed to earn the badge.arcsight badge.pngBy awarding these badges, we’ll further enable the professionals that use
Micro Focus products to highlight and enhance their skill sets. Each badge earned will recommend additional badges to the earner, enabling them to continue expanding their knowledge and skills in the portfolios and products that are most useful in their career path.

Please look out for an e-mail notification shortly from Acclaim, and let your friends and colleagues know too! This will tell you when it’s time to set up your Acclaim profile and claim your badge(s). Badging with Credly will place your certifications alongside those of other organizations, including Oracle, Microsoft, IBM and Adobe. We will also be able to keep you updated on the latest news and dedicated webinars and sessions for our certification holders.

Could we make the badges different colors to distinguish them?
