Mac Connector recommendations from RnD

Target environment is MC 3.00
We are aware of https://softwaresupport.softwaregrp.com/doc/KM03282058 - MC-Admin-Best-Practices-Guide.pdf
and https://admhelp.microfocus.com/mobilecenter/en/3.0/Content/Before_starting_installation.htm#mt-item-3
and https://admhelp.microfocus.com/mobilecenter/en/3.0/Content/Install_connector_Mac.htm

However, when using a Mac as a Connector, we have the following general questions for RnD which are not addressed:
1 - are there any specific Mac models that are recommended (and why) ?
2 - are there any specific Mac models that are NOT recommended (and why NOT) ?
3 - any issues using Thunderbolt-2-to-USB dongles to connect iOS devices, in case we don't have enough USB ports ?

Thank you,
Mark S

Re: Mac Connector recommendations from RnD

Hi Mark,

With regards to the hardware - we are not a hardware company, hence we are not providing any reccomendation about bare metal components. We do provide software requirements with regards to memory and CPU consumption, Disk and Network. Operating System is another parameter that we are looking into.

However, we are not benchmarking different Mac models - this is not a scope of our product. Especially answering the question of "why".

For the Thunderbolt-2-to-USB question: we are reccomends to ALWAYS use Power USB hubs in order to drive the mobile devices. And that USB hub will require only 1 USB port on Mac machine. Hence, the question of Thunderbolt-2-to-USB can be eliminated from the beginning.

Please refer to MC Admin guide (posted here previously) for additional information about how to build and run a Mobile Lab using Mobile Center.
