SSL Certs acceptable?

I am wondering if there is a list of acceptable SSL Certs I can use for Novell products. I was looking into a GoDaddy wildcard cert but was warned against doing so. Working with school systems money can be an issue and I would like to secure several of my products at the same time. It is obvious that to get the full functionallity of ZMM SSL is required.

Anyone have suggestions for this type of an issue?

Thanks

In general I recommend against wildcard certs. Yes, they are most cost
effective, but they also can be more problematic with various devices
and services. This isn't anything new or unique to ZMM.

Re: SSL Certs acceptable?

Is there any pitfals to using one of the cheaper SSL certs for this or should I be staying with the ones listed in the documentation?

Re: SSL Certs acceptable?

I am a little confused on what type of SSL certificate I need. I am also confused on what the technical issue with a wildcard type cert in this case would be. I thought that Wildcard certs were build with this very task in mind.

I looked at several other SSL deployed certs. They all range from $49 to $399. Network Solutions had the cheapest SSL as a Express SSL. The Documentation isn't clear on what exactly is required for the SSL.

Thanks for the assistance.

They are, but I've seen cases in the past where various mobile devices
would not properly recognize wildcard certs. It doesn't seem to be as
much of a problem any more, but since regular certs aren't all that
expensive (when I used to purchase certs I would buy them from GoDaddy
at $12.99 a pop) I've recommended folks go that route and skip wildcard
certs. They are great in theory but definitely not 100% effective.

Thanks for the information on the GoDaddy certs. I originally started down that path but stopped since I wasn't sure what all was required and didn't want to purchase something that wouldn't work.

One last question. Is the SSL implementation required to get the APN working? I have what I think is a signed APN from both Novell and Apple yet the profiles still show as unverified. Not sure if I need to go back and recreate some things or if I have something else going on with that.

Thanks for the help.

Re: SSL Certs acceptable?

Can anyone comment on the class type when purchasing a cert? Is a Class 1 okay?
