Signing certificate on IOS device expires / renew

Hello,

our current signing certifcate is going to expire and we allready have an renewed certificate installed on the server, all new enrolled devices receive the new certificate.

What ist best way to renew the signing certificate on the ios devices in teh best case triggerd from outside (Server).
I mean in can hit the lod configuration button on the device and install a new profile, but this cannot be done from Server Side.

What will happen if the signing certificate expires ?
