nnmi - delete all nodes but keep all config

nnmi - delete all nodes but keep all config

0 Votes

hi

looking for an easy way to remove all nodes and incidents in NNM DB - but keeping ALL settings (like nnmnodedelte.ovpl for all nodes).

basically I like to

  • restore from backup (nnmrestore.ovpl)
  • bring up NNM to a state where no polling is done (-> how?)
  • delete all nodes that are in DB (incidents will be removed automatically) (-> how)
  • bring up NNM to full mode (ovstart)
  • load new seeds (nnmloadseeds.ovpl)

Any idea, help, hint is welcome, thanks a lot

Hi!

It is not clear as what settings we want to retain? Deleting a node does not delete any configuration.

Please clarify your use case so we can take it forward.

Hi

sorry for being not clear in describing my need.

I am looking for a way to nnmrestore everything EXCEPT the nodes in NNM internal DB...

And in addition I am looking for a way to drop the nodes before NNM will try to snmp read them after coming back up for the first time after nnmrestore.

hope that clarifies 🙂 thanks a lot

Yes, it does. But you can already do this in the product.

Have you tried taking backing with:

nnmbackup.ovpl –scope config <other parameters>

This option would not backup topology data, and after restore, you do not have nodes to poll or delete. More details can be found at https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Network_Node_Manager_i:2019.05/nnmbackupovplM

Let me know if this does not work.

Hi,

seems to be a perfect fit 🙂

I was looking hard to get rid of the nodes - so I did not even think of NOT exporting them...

Sometimes solutions are that easy, thanks a lot!

Thanks for showing interest. As discussed, the already existing features of the product should be able to address the requirement. And hence changing the state of this Idea
