Exporting SNMP v3 setting details from NNMi

Hello Friends,

We are using NNMi 10.20, we have configured 2 SNMP v3 settings in Communication settings. NNMi has discovered 600 devices and using any 1 of these SNMP v3 setting for discovery and polling.

We would like to know, which SNMP v3 setting is in use by all of our 600 devices.

How can we get this data/report from NNMi ?

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers,

Re: Exporting SNMP v3 setting details from NNMi

Hi,

how about using nnmcommunication.ovpl listEffective -node xxxxxxx

Export list of nodes, create command for each and put all command lines to one file. Run the file on server and put output to some file. There is SNMP V3 name displayed among other parameters. In case your set of credentials is using different one, you can see in output which node is using which SNMP v3 username.

Re: Exporting SNMP v3 setting details from NNMi

Hello Lukas,

Good day to you.

Unfortunately, 'listeffective' doesn't extract the corresponding SNMP v3 username or any details for the assigned SNMP v3.

Have you tried this command in your environment, Cud u please share the output, if that works for you.

Thank you.

Cheers,

Re: Exporting SNMP v3 setting details from NNMi

Hello Allessandro,

Unfortunately, Inventory->SNMP Agents does not give individual SNMP v3 details, since we have more than 1 SNMP v3 at our customer place.

Guess, this is a limitation with NNMi and is difficult to achieve even with the command line!

Re: Exporting SNMP v3 setting details from NNMi

Hello,

last idea is to use the Web API:

http://<nnmi url>/SnmpBeanService/SnmpBean?wsdl

Request:

<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:snmp="http://snmp.sdk.nms.ov.hp.com/">
   <soapenv:Header/>
   <soapenv:Body>
      <snmp:getNodeConfig>
         <arg0>
            <!--Zero or more repetitions:-->
            <item>r1delip</item>
         </arg0>
      </snmp:getNodeConfig>
   </soapenv:Body>
</soapenv:Envelope>

Response:

<env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
   <env:Header/>
   <env:Body>
      <snmp:getNodeConfigResponse xmlns:snmp="http://snmp.sdk.nms.ov.hp.com/">
         <return>
            <item>
               <managementAddress>10.1.1.1</managementAddress>
               <msTimeout>5000</msTimeout>
               <retries>2</retries>
               <snmpPort>161</snmpPort>
               <snmpProxyPort>-1</snmpProxyPort>
               <snmpProxyTargetVarbindEnabled>false</snmpProxyTargetVarbindEnabled>
               <activeConfig>
                  <managementAddress>10.1.1.1</managementAddress>
                  <snmpVersion>V2C</snmpVersion>
                  <v2ReadCommunityString>public</v2ReadCommunityString>
               </activeConfig>
               <hostname>r1delip</hostname>
               <nodeID>2147484707</nodeID>
               <snmpSupported>true</snmpSupported>
               <v2Config/>
            </item>
         </return>
      </snmp:getNodeConfigResponse>
   </env:Body>
</env:Envelope>

I have no SNMPv3 node to check this. I have used SoapUI for the test.

HTH and kind regards

Allessandro
