Re: HP NNMI BGP alerts

Hello Jayaram,

Of course it's possible, You just only need to get the MIBs of this device, upload the MIBs to NNMi and finally enable your desired SNMP traps from NNMi.

Try this and if you face any problem inform me.

Re: HP NNMI BGP alerts

Another method you might use is the custom poller. We have implemented it this way for BGP:

Poll for MIB variable bgpPeerState .1.3.6.1.2.1.15.3.1.2 and filter using MIB variable bgpPeerAdminStatus .1.3.6.1.2.1.15.3.1.3. If the state is != 6 then it is considered not normal but we filter on on AdminStatus since we only care about polling BGP peers which are supposed to be normal (AdminStatus = 2).

Re: HP NNMI BGP alerts

Yes that can be done however, what if the BGP resides on IPSec Tunnel or Backup link? Most of the time this kind of circuits flaps for some reason and we do experience that in our network. If flapping happens then we we will get incidents generated from time and going back to normal status will be also the same result. That will turn out to be duplicate incidents being forwarded to service desk. So is there a way to minimize the incident, the idea is, how about incident will be forwarded to service desk once the incident has been in several major state for a range of 12 hour period?

Any idea will be much appreciated.

Re: HP NNMI BGP alerts

Hi,
In our scenario the bgp alert are updating but in that alert we required the P2P interface decription like

##It should pull Interface Description Also like P2P link from A Location to B Location is Down / UP.###

But we are receiving alert like below in NNMi version 10:30

##BGP peer state is DOWN on 10.10.166.10 Hosted on CHE-6524-01 at Wed Nov 15 08:47:40 IST 2017###

Please suggest ...
