Layer 2 connectivity

Jump to solution

Dear All

As I am aware you can create Layer 2 connectivity between two SNMP based nodes using XML files.

What I wanted to know is whether I can create manual Layer 2 connectivity between SNMP and non-SNMP nodes since non-SNMP nodes does not have Interfaces not discovered.

Requirement is to show Port connectivity between SNMP and non SNMP nodes.

Hello ramesh9,

as a non-snmp device has an interface name "Pseudo Interface" it should work using it in nnmconnedit.ovpl:

<connectionedits>
    <connection>
        <operation>add or delete</operation>
        <node>name, long name or IP address</node>
        <interface>ifName, ifAlias, ifDescr or ifIndex</interface>
        <node>name, long name or IP address</node>
        <interface>ifName, ifAlias, ifDescr or ifIndex</interface>
    </connection>
</connectionedits>

HTH and best regards

Hi

Do you have any idea of how to monitor these pseudo interfaces.

I tried to create new Interface group and set up monitoring, but it is not showing it is monitoring them.

It shows me below message,

Is Pollable false Not Pollable Reason Private Interface

Hello ramesh,

as interface polling is done via SNMP you cannot monitor the interface of a non-snmp device. Only the status of the connected interface of the SNMP device is in indicator for that.
