MAC flapping in Cisco switch

NNM 10.20x monitoring various devices including Cisco Nexus switches.

Recently we found lot of mac flapping in the switch and we found it from Cisco logs,

2018 Feb  5 22:40:55 delhi-bdb-sr101 %L2FM-4-L2FM_MAC_MOVE: Mac 0050.56b8.7ef9 in vlan 173 has moved from Po27 to Po28

Similar messages appeard in cisco logs around 28000 times within 30 seconds.

Is there any possibility of monitoring this from NNMi.

Re: MAC flapping in Cisco switch

Hello Ramesh

Thanks for posting,

If the mac address has been discovered in NNM (within the Interface and IP address) and it changes, NNM will be able to notice this change during the polling.

Also probably you can create a custom poller to retrieve the MAC information using the specific OID, in that way you will have more data.

Hope this helps,
