NPS installation failed due to Windows 2016 security policy

Hi, experts
our installation of iSPI Perfromance/NPS 2018.08 on Win 2016 server failed. The reason is that local user "informix"  creation by NPS installation was blocked by customer's Windows security policies.

Customer security department allows only domain account creation, local account are forbiden. Now customer came back with the following questions from Security department:

1.  Can you use a domain account wen you configure the Informix database credential or it should be a local account ?
2. This account name “Informix” can be changed ?
3. Local user is not allowed based on our security rule, if we disable the security policy  now you will be able to continue the installation, but later when the rule is enabled the local account will be removed, so can you change this local account by a domain account after installation or not ?

Someone could help us to answer these questions? Do you know if domain accounta are supported for NPS informix (and perhaps other users) ?
We haven't  got any respose from MF support, looks like it must be addressed to IBM/Cognos support.

thank you in advance,
KenMAx and Gedas

Re: NPS installation failed due to Windows 2016 security policy

Hello KenMAx and Gedas

Here the answers to your questions:

1.  Can you use a domain account wen you configure the Informix database credential or it should be a local account ?

The informix user is the main user to the DB so it cannot be changed.

2. This account name “Informix” can be changed ?

All folders are created with Informix user and the change of the same can cause access issues, and is currently not supported, so I recommend not change it.

3. Local user is not allowed based on our security rule, if we disable the security policy  now you will be able to continue the installation, but later when the rule is enabled the local account will be removed, so can you change this local account by a domain account after installation or not ?

We aren't sure about this change, I recommend you to open a case with support with this exact question and we will proceed to make a research and ask the developers.

Kind Regards,

Re: NPS installation failed due to Windows 2016 security policy

Hello, Also we are facing a same issue regarding this we raised the case but its wont help us to start the NPS services when Informix user with the local account .

Case ID SD02458076:Informix services not starting on NPS.

As per discussion with  customer not agree for the Informix user to be part of local administrator due to security policy, could you please find the way other than ER  how we can achieve this Informix user to get resolved .
