RE: SNMP Trap/Incidents Forwarding to 3rd party collector

Hi,

I am trying send Incidents/Traps to 3rd party collector by configuring Trap Forwarding destination. I don't see any traps being sent.
--> Checked TCPDUMP on particular destination no packets captured. (**Trap receiver service is running )

---> I'm thinking Trap forwarding is handled by snmpnotify.ovpl, checked that service when I run this giving following error.

nnmirhnet92.infra3tst [1008]:./nnmsnmpnotify.ovpl "" ""
/opt/OV/lbin/nnmsnmpnotify: error while loading shared libraries: libovmibutil.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

How do I resolve this or what is better way to send all Incidents to third party collectors like sumo/splunk?  Also tried northbound Integration --no traffic generated. Thanks for the help!

Thanks,

Mahie

Re: RE: SNMP Trap/Incidents Forwarding to 3rd party collector

Hi Mahie,

Traps that are configured to be forwarded are done so in the "trapd" thread of OVjboss and the event pipeline.  The nnmsnmpnotify.ovpl script is not used.  However it looks like your system is missing some libraries from the error you report from the script.   It may well be that these same libraries are used by the thread.   What you can do is to enable the following tracing:

nnmsetlogginglevel.ovpl com.hp.ov.nms.trapd FINEST

then review the nnm-trace.log file and you should see the trap being processed and forwarded.  Is there any error then reported in the log file at this point?   To turn off the tracing run the same command with the "INFO" parameter instead of "FINEST"

I would suggest opening a case with us because we should look into the missing libraries.  Once this is sorted your forwarding problem may get resolved as well.  if its not then this can then be looked into.

  All the best

Dave Y

I noticed the same issue.  I opened a support request, the support technician sent me a copy of the missing shared library rather than attempting to re-install the RPM package that contains that missing library.
